Highland Park returns to Texas Lacrosse state final

Defending Division I state champion Highland Park advanced to the Texas High School Lacrosse League final with an 11-10 victory over Austin Westlake.

Highland Park faces Jesuit at 1 p.m. Sunday at Allen Eagle Stadium.

In its semifinal, Highland Park’s star-studded lineup jumped to a 4-0 lead early in the first quarter. Junior North Carolina commits Jack Kozmetzky and Parker Alexander scored early goals as well as Syracuse junior commit Owen Seebold and senior Furman commit Jackson Durham. Seebold ended with three goals and Highland Park will try to win back-to-back state titles for the third time in less than 15 years.  Highland Park also will bring back Penn State commit goalie Colby Kneese in for its eighth state title in 13 years.

Highland Park won consecutive state titles in 2004 and 2005 and 2008 and 2009. Highland Park’s also has won DI state championships in 2010, 2012 and 2015.
