Rich Moses is the New Head Coach

The Highland Park Lacrosse Club is pleased to announce that Rich Moses has been hired as the new Head Coach of the Highland Park D1 lacrosse team.

Upon learning of Derek Thomson's retirement, the Highland Park Lacrosse Board entered into numerous discussions with parents, coaches and customers within our HP Lacrosse community to forge a very strategic and comprehensive approach to the filling the position. The Head Coach position has numerous impacts and responsibilities for the program at many levels and is so much more than the man that calls the plays, rallies the troops and leads our D1 players onto the field at Highlander every Spring. A search committee was formed with non-board members representing parents of players at each HS age level and a former HP Scot lacrosse player. Over a 4-month period the committee worked judiciously to clarify what that job description was, identify our short and long terms needs and wants at the position and then worked through advertising, job posting and networking to cast a net all the way to the East Coast to find the best individual for the job. The committee interviewed and reviewed over 40 qualified applicants from April 15th-May 15th. In the end, all committee members went back to the crafted job description and unanimously decided that Rich Moses was the best person to accomplish it.

"When Coach Thomson announced his retirement after 14 years it forced us to evaluate everything we were doing and develop a job description/search criteria to take the club to the next level. I'm proud that we found the person to execute our strategy inside our program - it speaks to our great staff of coaches," said Greg Galbraith, HP Lacrosse Board President. "I'd like to thank our search committee for their tireless effort, the HP community for all the patience and input, and the many candidates who applied. I hope that everyone can come meet Coach Moses on June 7th. It's an exciting time for HP Lacrosse!"

Rich has been part of the HP program since 2008, first coaching at the 7/8 grade level and recently as an Assistant Coach for our D2 team. He is a three-time NCAA Champion while playing at Hobart, the 2015 Texas High School Lacrosse League (THSLL) North District Assistant Coach of the year, 2016 THSLL Person of the Year, Co-Chair of the Patriot Cup, a Board member of Bridge Lacrosse and the founder/Director of HEADstrong TX, where he was awarded the Relentless Spirit award in 2014. Coach Moses has spent his years in Dallas as an advocate and ambassador of the game both on and off the field. Rich's willingness to share his knowledge of the game to young men and passion to always try to learn more from any elder of the game, former teammate or coach has not gone unnoticed. We are excited to see his leadership abilities and love for the game occupy the top spot at Highland Park. The staff that will join Moses at the D1 program is Defensive Coordinator Nick Disimile, Offensive Coordinator & Face-Offs Dalton Jernigan, and Goalie & Strength Coordinator Austin Geisler.

"I am extremely honored and proud to be named the next Head Coach of Highland Park Lacrosse. Coach Thomson leaves a rich tradition behind and I am looking forward to going to work and continuing to develop leaders and champions both on the lacrosse field and in the community." said Rich Moses.

Please join us for a Meet & Greet with Coach Moses on Wednesday, June 7th at the University Park Public Library's Community Room located at 8383 Preston Center Plaza #200, Dallas, TX 75225 from 6:00-7:00 PM.
