What a Weekend in May!

This was one busy lacrosse weekend for Highland Park and we could not have asked for better weather.  We are proud of all our teams and here is an update on the playoffs and championships.

Division I Varsity

Memorial kept the game really tight until the 4th quarter when the Scots got some outside shots into the cage. The defense was stellar with Cole Ogden and Case Carpenter standing out on the field as defensive powers! Memorial had a very difficult time getting a clean shot off all game. Offensively, the Scots struggled through three quarters until they ripped some shots past the Memorial goalie. D1 will play their first game Saturday in Round Rock, TX at 2:00pm against a very improved Allen team. The club is very proud of our D1 boys and their relentless effort all year. Every team in the State wants to beat HP and these boys keep pulling through. Awesome job making it to the BIG DANCE once again.

Division II Varsity

What a weekend for the D2 team! The first game was a battle against Magnolia and then they had to get past a very athletic TMI team who had home field advantage. These games were the most exciting games of the weekend! The Scots were firing shots until the horn blew and they averaged over 11 goals per game. This is a very exciting team with a lot of potential. D2 will play their first game Saturday in Round Rock, TX against a McKinney team at 10:00am that is seeking revenge after losing to the Scotties earlier in the season. This trip to San Antonio also had a bonus Alamo tour led by the History Teacher himself Coach Ross. Perfect story to go along with this team!

Youth

Three Championship Trophies!

7/8 D2 controlled the game 14-6, kudos to Coach Streeten for rolling in from D1 college coaching and making this team better!

5/6 D1 destroyed another opponent, host Frisco 18-4. Coaches Adam and Luke, huge props on continuing to push this talented group of 6th graders to improve and for the smashing success this season.

5/6 D3 Blue, down 3-6 in the 4th wins 7-6. Congrats to Coach Peter who has won this game two years in a row and to HP Dad Mark Gallas who stepped in to help and did an amazing job!

Also, congratulations to Coaches Adam and Luke who will be coaching the 5/6 All Star team on Wednesday, and to Coach Groot, Coach Lanese, Coach Josh and goalie coach Coach Jordan Lee who will be coaching the 7/8 All Star team on Thursday.

Bantam

Bantam concluded its season with a fantastic HP playdate at the Southwest Fields. The sense of community was great as teams competed against each other.  Lots of smiling faces and a beautiful day to conclude another great season for the Bantam kiddos. We are so grateful to the volunteer Dad coaches and the time that they spend ensuring these kids have a great memory associated with lacrosse. Bantam Rocks!!!

Go Scots!
