Bantam Parents –
Can you believe it! We are already ramping up for the 2012 Spring lacrosse season. This year spring we have already broken all registration records once again and it is something that is not insignificant. Even on the East Coast where lacrosse dominates they do not have the numbers we have within their Bantam programs. We have together established one of the best feeder programs in the country and I am not exaggerating in saying that. Thank you for getting your kiddo plugged into the Greatest Sport for Little Boys!
All of this growth posses challenges and up to this point our parent volunteers have consistently been there when we needed them most. For those that do not know, Bantam is completely ran by volunteer parents that care about their kids experience with this sport. Because lacrosse is not a sport most of us played growing up it is sometimes hard to find coaches that are willing to jump in and take on a team. For our program to continue to grow we have to have good dads willing to learn the basics of the game and get involved. Every year we lose coaches because as kids move into the youth program we have to replace their dads that have helped while their kiddo was in Bantam. This year we will have a total of 18 teams in Bantam which is the most in our programs history. My perspective in all of this is that it is a great opportunity to serve our community and the kids within it. So, please consider offering to help us either through administration, coaching or field maintenance.
One of the struggles we had this spring has been the registration process and errors that parents have had when trying to sign up. Let me explain what happened and how we have decided to fix the problem. The issue is when you signed up for the fall many of you indicated that you were going to play in spring. Our system kept that information and you secured a spot within the system but was not charged for pre-registration. We determined that the best process was to simply hold a spot for your kiddo without charging you. This caused an issue with the system because we showed that you were already registered but not yet paid thus giving you an error on the site. Last night the board agreed to no longer allow parents to pre-register for spring season in the fall to alleviate these errors in the system and some parent frustration. We apologize for any confusion or mishaps you may experienced during the process.
I want to also encourage you to consider attending our parent party which is Saturday, January 28, 2012 from 6:30 pm to Midnight. This is a major fundraiser for the program and your financial support is so incredibly important.
