HP 7/8 Blue Wins

Oak Point, Texas November 9, 2013:  Highland Park's 7/8 Blue team had a successful ending to the 2013 fall season winning the Adrenaline LXM - ATS:  Dallas lacrosse tournament beating Texas United 6 - 0.  HP entered the playoff round as the number 2 seed after losing the previous day to that same Texas United team 4-1 and was anxious to face them in a re-match.

Texas United was patient with the ball on offense during the championship game and showed great discipline as they probed for scoring opportunities, but the HP defense held strong with goalie Jackson Smoot proving to be impenetrable with the few shots that made it on cage.  HP was only 1 for 18 in scoring opportunities in the loss to Texas United on Saturday but they were able to turn things around with some focused shooting drills in the pre-game warm up that helped the team to a 3 - 0 lead at half.  The team looked impressive with their defensive communication and the way they slid to the ball -- creating efficient double teams and forcing turnovers.  That, combined with the improved shooting percentages and execution on offense proved to be too much for a Texas United squad that ran hard and played aggressively all of the way through the final seconds of the game.

The team is coached by Rich Moses and Mike Lanese.  The players are Elliot Nelson, Michael Schmitz, Scully Jenevein, Cooper Kneese, Lucas Briggs, Blake Wills, Benjamin Archer, Cole Jackson, Finn Jent, John Stephen Jones, Paxton Alexander, Zakary Folts, Reese Glusing, James Herring, Sands Wilson Sands, Gabe Galbraith, Camden Clark, Cade Saustad, Will Stern, Blake Pettle, Robert Neely, Jackson Smoot.

Congratulations to the Highland Park Scots on their Victory!
