Halloween Shootout Tournament: Hospitality Tent at Craig Ranch

Fall Youth 5/6, 7/8 and High School Parents:

As you know the Halloween Shootout Tournament is October 29 and 30 at Craig Ranch (6375 Collin McKinney Parkway, McKinney, TX 75070) and the Al Ruschhaupt Facility (1986 Park View Ave, McKinney, TX 75069). HP Lacrosse has 10 teams participating in this tournament and we are excited to announce that we are setting up a hospitality tent for all of our teams, hosted by the fall high school Varsity and JV teams! We want to have a place for everyone to get together to rest and relax, meet others in the HP Lacrosse family and grab some food and refreshments. We had great success with this last year and it provided a fun atmosphere for coaches, parents and players alike. HP Lacrosse will provide a large tent (the tournament is prohibiting tents that are staked into the ground) and tables at the Craig Ranch location and we encourage your participation.

All tents at the facility will be grouped together and ours will be marked with the Highland Park banner so it will easily be recognized.

The game schedules are posted on the tournament website and our teams have been split between two locations. The high school and championship level teams will be at Craig Ranch and many of the competitive level teams play at the Al Ruschhaupt Facility. If your team is not playing at Craig Ranch we hope you will still come join us or help with a tent for teams at the other location! There will be many more opportunities as well in the future!

If you want to help with the hospitality tent (and/or administrative duties) for your team, we would like three representatives from each team to help coordinate food and drinks. If you have never volunteered before this is your chance to get involved!!! Please email Beth Lee at hplaxmom@swbell.net if you can help! When we have representatives from each team identified, we will coordinate with you so you may communicate to your team.

We hope you are looking forward to the tournament and the opportunity to get to know others in the HP Lacrosse Program!

Thank you,

Beth Lee

Important Required Items for HP Lacrosse

HP Lacrosse Parents:

Please make note of the following important information:

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS (all documents must be turned in at the Registration Meeting or mailed before that time to 4333 Stanhope, 75205). All Players in Grades 5-12 must complete and turn in the Participant Medical Emergency Card and 2-page Physical Evaluation Form (http://www.hpisd.org/Portals/0/docs/athletics/phys_eval_medical%201609.pdf must be signed by a physician) before the season begins in order to play. If your son had a physical at the school in May then please notate this when sending in the Participant Medical Emergency Card. You may document any medical information you want coaches to be aware of on this form.

The HP Lacrosse Player Code of Conduct has been updated and we require that all players and parents read the document in its entirety, sign and turn in before the season begins.

GRADE POLICY (grades 5-12)

Highland Park Boys Lacrosse adheres to the HPISD UIL Academic Eligibility Requirements. Please read below for more information and details pertaining to this policy:

  • At the end of the six weeks grading period, the players coach will request players to bring a copy of the original HPISD report card sent home to parents. (no copies from the online grade report will be accepted).
  • Coaches will give players a deadline to submit their grade report and if a player does not adhere to this deadline, he will not be allowed to practice until he has shown his grades to his coach.
  • If the student has a grade of 70 or above in all subjects, the coach will check him off his list to confirm the player has submitted his grade report and that the report card has been given back to the player. He is then cleared to play.
  • Any player with a grade of 69 or below is ineligible for a three week period.
  • A player may regain eligibility when his coach has reviewed the 3-week mid-term report to see that his grade is above a 70 and the player is now passing. If the player still is not passing by the mid-term grade then he sits out another six weeks.
  • Students with an "Incomplete" instead of a final grade are ineligible until the "I" is replaced with a passing grade.
  • While a player is serving his suspension, the player is allowed to practice but may NOT play in games. However, if he needs more time for tutors, homework, etc. then he is excused from practice.

Reminder: RSVP for the first ever Lacrosse “101” Tuesday Night

Attention HP High School Lacrosse Parents:

Ever wonder what is going on out there on the field? Is the offense running a play or just running around? What about the defense? Is there a method to the madness? And of course there is always the penalty / rule we wonder about… why did the ref throw a flag on that clearly legal check?

Our very own D1 coach - Derek Thomson - will enlighten us!

What: The first ever Lacrosse "101" (hosted by the HP Lacrosse Board)
When: Tuesday, November 9th - 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Where: Andelon Art Gallery: 3737 Atwell St, Dallas, TX 75209 (courtesy of Delaney Campbell)
Who: This event is for High School Parents - JV, DII and DI.

(We plan to host a similar event for Youth and Bantam parents as well)

We will have beer, wine, water - so come enjoy a little social time, get to know some of the other parents you don't already know, and around 8:00 pm Coach Thomson will begin his talk that will be accompanied by some video examples. We promise this event will be both fun and informative!
